KITCHENER — Sixteen seconds can raise a legitimate alarm. It cannot settle the full encounter. The Aug. 29, 2025 eyewitness clip shows armed Waterloo Regional Police officers arresting a man at the Victoria and Weber encampment; one officer makes a kicking motion while the man is on the ground. WRPS said the kick was directed at the man's arm to free his hands, not his head, after reports of a handgun and repeated commands. Police later reported recovering an imitation firearm. A 33-year-old was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation; charges are allegations, not findings of guilt. CambridgeToday reported that every involved officer wore a body camera, but the reporting reviewed for this post did not show that footage. Calling public concern irresponsible while the decisive angles remain unseen is institutional deflection. Release a privacy-treated, complete sequence and let the evidence answer.
